This week, we drive about 1 hour from Sapporo’s downtown to visit the “countryside close to a city” town of Yuni. This wonderful town is rich in agricultural products. Our two MCs get a bit dirty by joining in the work of the farmers; it’s amazing to learn how much the farmers work for us to eat our delicious produce. After harvesting their own fresh vegetable ingredients, they make a pizza right on the farm, and are moved by the rich taste; so this is the taste of Hokkaido!
We visit "Yuni Garden”, which is famous for flowers. It presents the beauty of flowers blooming through English-style gardens. There the MCs take on the challenge of making a coaster with pressed flowers, how pretty!
We then visit a traditional style Japanese house, turned into a café! Beautiful energetic housewives came together with the hopes of revitalizing their town, and made this charming café. They are happy to serve special Japanese sweets, which we are more than happy to eat! This is truly a special town to visit, we hope you enjoy it too!

TWe continue to explore the Ororon Line this week. Our two MCs are impressed by the white sand beach of Tomamae Town. They continue their trip to visit Haboro Town, famous for the biggest catch of sweet shrimp in Japan, and take their time digging into the delicacy. Then we are moved as we learn the ecology of rare seabirds at the Hokkaido Seabird Center. We further explore the local gourmet of Haboro, “Ebi Shio Ramen” (shrimp salt Ramen) and “Ebi Tako Yaki Gyoza” (Shrimp Octopus Fried Dumplings). As for sights, we enjoy the beauty of about 300 varieties of roses at Haboro Rose Garden. We fell in love with Haboro Town!!

≪Feature≫Take in the Taste, View and Culture along the Ororon Line 1

This week we introduce the west coast area of Hokkaido called “Ororon Line”, with our departure starting at Rumoi. We get the chance to take a commemorative photo with Rumoi’s character KAZUMO at a souvenir shop near Rumoi station. Too cute!
Then we enjoy a gorgeous and calming view from a restaurant overlooking the ocean. They serve a dish inspired by the sunset over the Sea of Japan, colored and flavored to match the sunset with a base of tomato juice soup: “Ororon Ramen”.
In the neighbouring town of Obira, right beside the roadside station (Michi-no-Eki), we learn the history and culture of the herring industry, once one of the richest industries in Japan. It was very interesting to see how life used to be a few decades ago!
Then our two MCs were surprised and thrilled at the same time to try locally caught octopus as processed products, at an all-octopus specialty shop!
Any trip is made complete with souvenirs! We visit Tomamae Town, relax at the local hot springs, and find a delicious, and adorable, souvenir!

≪Feature≫Let’s Play in Summer Tokachi: Shintoku, Honbetsu and Ashoro

This week we get the pleasure of enjoying the summer of Tokachi region!
First, MCs Li Qiang and Isis travel to Shintoku Town. They are thrilled to jump into Tokachi River for rafting! Since the water is regulated to a constant flow, especially as beginner rafters, they are excited to have a wild adventure ride.
Next, they visit the town famous for delicious beans, Honbetsu. There they are pleasantly surprised to find such a vast Honbetsu Park to play in. They ask Honbetsu Town Hall employees to join them in making a BBQ to enjoy local meats and vegetables. We even dig in to Shintoku Town's Deer Meat!
Finally, we get the chance to visit Ashoro Town's Sheep Ranch. We are extremely impressed by the talent of the trained sheep dogs, their respect and love for their owner. MCs Li Qiang and Isis also get to try shearing sheep for the first time! By tasting the sheep cuisine at the ranch’s local restaurant, we can further understand the depth of the rancher's love towards his sheep.

This week we introduce a traditional Japanese Inn at Yu-no-Kawa Hot Spring area of Hakodate. We also enjoy the flavors unique to the city by indulging in sweets and beer only available in this region.
