We embark on a journey to discover delightful autumn flavors in Nanae Town, southern Hokkaido!
For our first stop, we visit a local farm cultivating the striking "phantom mushroom," known for its vibrant yellow hue. Sautéed in rich butter or lightly fried as tempura, the unique umami flavor is truly indescribable.
Next, we find ourselves in the peak harvest of carnations. Did you know that Nanae is Hokkaido’s top carnation producer? With 150 varieties to choose from, our hosts are delighted to receive a stunning bouquet featuring rare and colorful blooms.
At a tofu dessert shop that prides itself on using local soybeans, we try the intriguing "tofu nama chocolate" for the first time. Smooth like classic nama chocolate, but 47% of it is made from silky tofu—deliciously guilt-free!
It’s a harvest season full of tasty and fun discoveries, as our duo enjoys everything Nanae Town has to offer.
