MCs Li Qiang and Alena journey out on National Highway Route 36 to advertise the renewal of our show Love Hokkaido!
They first visit a very popular “Kama-Meshi” restaurant called Ichie in Eniwa City. So popular they have rows of people waiting to get a seat. There we learn of four different ways to enjoy the dish of hot delicious rice pot!
Our next stop is Chitose City, your first stop in Hokkaido when coming by plane to Sapporo. There we visit a shop offering one of the most famous souvenirs visitors from abroad purchase: horse oil! We look in to the secret of its popularity.
Chitose is also famous for being the hometown for delicious salmon. After a wonderful experience of enjoying the atmosphere at Lake Shikotsu, why not visit the fish at the Chitose Aquarium? Our hosts love it so much they vow to come visit Chitose River again.
Our travels take us to Tomakomai City as well. We visit a famous local Ramen shop offering delicious Miso, Soy Sauce and Salt flavored soup. Let’s learn what kind of Ramen the locals enjoy so much! We hope you enjoy all Route 36 has to offer!

≪FEATURE≫Alena’s Choice! This Shop & That Shop

Alena is a new host in Love Hokkaido from April 2016; she is from Sakhalin in Russia. This week, we introduce shops that Alena loves going to, and has always wanted to go to, in Sapporo City.
The first location is a stylish café that Alena visits for some relaxation, “FAbULOUS”. It is close by the 2jo Seafood Market, in central Sapporo. But it’s not just a café, it also sells unique interior goods at the shop in the back. Very cool.
Their next stop is “nana’s green tea”. They have many shops around Japan; we visit the Sapporo Station Paseo location. This shop is the reason Alena fell in love with Japanese sweets! They even offer food besides dessert, and she recommends the salmon roe bowl to Li Qiang. Did you know the word “ikura” for salmon roe is actually Russian?
Alena has always wanted to visit the Russian restaurant “PECHIKA”. The chef was eager to share the taste of Russia with us. Alena was extremely pleased with the authenticity!
Our last stop toys with an unusual idea… the prison restaurant, “The Lockup”! They play a dangerous game of Russian Roulette with Cream Puffs: only one has deadly spicy ingredients. Which host has to suffer the blow?

Love Hokkaido has a new broadcast time and a new host! We wanted to share the good news with many friends, and set out on National Highway Route 36 with hosts Li Qiang and Alena.
Our first stop is Sapporo Dome! Did you know you could take a dome tour to view the backstage of the popular dome?
Keep driving and hit Kita Hiroshima City, where you can visit the farm famous for luxurious ham and bacon, “Edel Weiss” Find out the secret taste of the ham and sausage, as our hosts are moved by each bite.
Our next stop is Eniwa City. It is a special place for MC Alena, because it was where she did her homestay when she first came to Japan. There we visit “Suparu Farm” to harvest some strawberries! You can eat as much as you can for 30 minutes! Now that’s satisfying!
In the same Eniwa City, you can visit the “Sapporo Beer Hokkaido Factory”. One of MC Li Qiang’s favorites, after the tour of the factory, he couldn’t wait for the taste-testing. We also learn the best way to pour a great glass of beer.

≪FEATURE≫Find Hokkaido’s Best Souvenirs at New Chitose Airport! Part 2

A continuation from last week, together with special guest SEKAI NO OWARI band member DJ LOVE, we explore New Chitose Airport for some popular souvenirs. With three MCs and a lot of sweets to eat, we decided to have some fun and make a rule where only the winner of a game of rock-paper-scissors can eat!
First, Li Qiang introduces the famous Kinotoya “Freshly Baked Cheese Tart”. It’s baked right on site, and the scent of that fresh tart calls on lines of customers each day; it’s very popular! Can DJ LOVE eat this special treat?
We next introduce the long-selling brand “Ishiya Seika” with “Shiroi-Koibito”. Then a special treat from Kitakaro only available at the airport, a cream puff named “Yume Fuusen” aka “Dream Balloon”. After too many sweets, our hosts take a “break” with some delicious Ramen, and head back to some more desserts; a perfect finish with “Hakodate Love Strawberry Sorbet” from MILKISSIMO. From this week, MC Li Qiang and a new member of the Love Hokkaido team, Alena from Sakhalin, Russia, will travel the island of Hokkaido and share its beauty and charms from a whole new perspective.
The first episode with this new team takes place in New Chitose Airport, where the hosts search for Hokkaido’s delicious “omiyage”, souvenirs.
As a surprise guest, band member DJ LOVE of the worldwide famous Japanese band SEKAI NO OWARI jumps in for some fun. Which sweets does he like?
Li Qiang first introduces the famous “Catch Cakes” of Snaffles from Hakodate, they are very soft cheese cakes that melt in your mouth! The team decides to make a rule to play rock-paper-scissors; whoever wins gets to eat the dessert! DJ Love and Alena take the first challenge.
The next sweet souvenirs are “Kita no Sanpo-Michi” from Morimoto, “Sapporo Crema Catalana” from Mireica, and “Double Fromage” from Le TAO. All famous desserts of Hokkaido! Will DJ LOVE be able to win any games of rock-paper-scissor to try any? Wait… can he even eat??
Besides eating, our hosts and special guest visit the shop of a character that was born in Hokkaido, “Hatsune Miku”. They take a walk through the “Hatsune Miku Sky Town” Museum, and have a great time meeting the real-life Miku herself, along with HTB mascot on-chan!
